COBI Junkers JU 87 B-2 Dive Bomber : Set #5748
The Ju 87 dive bomber is one of the most recognizable aircraft of the Second World War. The characteristic feature of this machine are the wings in the configuration of the letter "W", which is perfectly reflected in our block model! The plane was first flown in 1935, but it was first used for combat in 1938 during the Spanish Civil War. In German propaganda, the Junkers became a symbol of Luftwaffe power. The machine was successfully used during the battles fought in Poland, Scandinavia, France, Crete and during Operation Barbarossa. JU 87 in the B-2 version was intended for tasks performed in Africa. The block model developed in 1:32 scale consists of 525 elements and is enhanced by realistic tropical camouflage and prints.
The plane has a moving propeller and ailerons and rotating wheels with rubber tires. The cockpit can be opened to seat the carefully designed pilot and gunner/radio operator figures at the controls. When built the plane is 34.5cm long. The set also includes a special stand with a transparent pin, with which you can display the plane "in flight". The set is also complemented by a plate with the name of the plane. The JU 87 B-2 in tropical camouflage is a perfect addition to the WWII aircraft collection! The set will delight not only young history enthusiasts, but even adult collectors and fans of military technology. Build history, piece by piece, with COBI!

• Ju-87 Stuka is the most famous dive bomber in the world, and quite likely the most widely recognizable symbol of WWII. It is however not as glamorous as it may seem. It’s slow, rather vulnerable and does not have much offensive power. However it is an excellent dive bomber and in capable hands every diving attack will result in a kill.
• The standard way to dive bomb is to sight the target through the floor window, drop dive brakes, chop throttle and roll over to inverted position. After that place the target in your crosshairs and release the bombs at minimum of 500 meters of altitude. Retract the dive brake, throttle up and head home. Ju-87’s two rifle-caliber machine guns are barely adequate for strafing soft targets, but in areas protected by flak and especially enemy fighters a Ju-87 will not last long.
• When you do have an enemy fighter on your tail, Ju-87 will prove surprisingly
maneuverable at low speeds. Late Soviet fighters can’t even fly as slow as the Ju-87
near stall speed. You won’t be able to clearly outmaneuver most fighters, but you should be easily able to avoid their passes, and constantly keep them in your rear gunner’s field of fire. (Il2 Aircraft Guide)
