About the Fokker D.VII:

The Fokker D.VII was a German World War I fighter aircraft designed by Reinhold Platz of the Fokker-Flugzeugwerke. First introduced in April 1918, it quickly became one of the best fighter aircraft of WWI and is widely regarded as the finest German fighter of the war. The D.VII was fast, maneuverable, and easy to fly, making it popular with both novice and experienced pilots. Its exceptional performance at high altitudes, where many contemporary fighters struggled, gave German pilots a significant advantage.

The Fighter That Changed History:

The Fokker D.VII's superiority was so pronounced that the Allies specifically demanded the surrender of all D.VIIs in Article IV of the Armistice agreement ending World War I - the only aircraft specifically mentioned by name in the treaty. Powered by either a Mercedes D.III or BMW III inline engine, the D.VII could reach speeds of up to 124 mph and climb to 20,000 feet. Its thick-section cantilever wing gave it excellent maneuverability and the ability to "hang on its propeller" - climbing at steep angles that would stall other aircraft.

Rudolf Berthold - The Iron Knight:

This set honors Hauptmann Rudolf Berthold, one of Germany's highest-scoring aces with 44 confirmed victories. Despite suffering severe injuries that left one arm partially paralyzed, Berthold continued to fly and fight, earning him the nickname "The Iron Knight." He was one of the most decorated German pilots of WWI and a master of the Fokker D.VII.
